"Integration of Information Networks"

Thanks to new Web technologies, the data exchange between users, between users and applications or between applications are increasing. In particular, the objectives of Semantic Web and Enterprise 3.0 are facilitate the information share. For example, SMEs / SMIs must work together to respond to tenders while their information systems (IS) are completely independent and often distributed. On the other hand, more and more information are exchanged via new collaborative platforms or email, social network, and so on. This induces a new kind of integration. So, a new vision of the concepts of integration and interoperability is required. Moreover, the collection of relevant information becomes even more difficult since the data come from several heterogeneous sources (relational databases, noSQL databases, ontologies, unstructured data, etc.). The data, representing the same concept, are structured completely differently depending on the storage system. However, it is essential to find the semantics attached to these data, despite their different structures. To facilitate interoperability between different information systems and their applications, we propose to reduce the "distance" between them by:
  1. the apprehension of their models and metamodels to obtain a unified view (virtualized or materialized approaches)
  2. improved matching techniques of these models
  3. rules mapping for automatic transformation of models
Currently, I work about ontologies, reasoner and aligner to build information networks integrating more semantics. A network respects the principles of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE). So, in my research context, MDE is evolving in Ontology-Driven Engineering (ODE).
