Coopération entre un hypermédia adaptatif éducatif et un agent pédagogique

Abstract:
Research in Intelligent Tutoring Systems are developing in two directions:
adaptive hypermedia, which adapts an hypermedia presentation to the level and the needs of the learner,
and pedagogical agents, which are used to explain the course and motivate the learner with communicational
and emotional features of both verbal and non verbal communication.
We present a new approach for the integration of pedagogical agents and hypermedia which happen to be
complementary but not deeply integrated in existing systems. We make use of the literature on
interpersonal multimodal communication, and as for long-term research of fine-grained analysis of
teachers' behavioural patterns.
The software module we present aims at assigning presentation sub-tasks to either the hypermedia or
the pedagogical agent depending on the teaching setting (learner level, data to be presented).
