Hieroglyphs

The ``alphabetic'' signs can be called like shown in table 1. The Letters A, i, a, w, b, p, f, m, n, r, h, H, x, X, z, s, S, q, k, g, t, T, d, and D are used both for the hieroglyphs and their transliteration.

Signs are named, either after their transliterations (for example, xpr is

) or after their Gardiner Code. See appendix B for a list of codes. For a complete list, see [1], which intends to be the format for encoding hieroglyphic texts.
